Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations . This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Manage a portfolio of mostly regional categories utilizing the latest supply chain tools and market knowledge to deliver the lowest total cost solution to Freeport-McMoRan. Lead commercial negotiations and contract development to ensure favorable terms that mitigate company risk. Act as a single point of contact for suppliers, Global Supply Chain personnel, and internal customers to maximize value creation with respect to category responsibilities.

  • Negotiate commercial terms and develop contracts and pricing for category responsibilities.
  • Develop cost management techniques and understand the respective category market and industry cost drivers.
  • Facilitate internal and external teams that identify key suppliers and develop strategic alliances.
  • Prepare analysis and plans for negotiations and lead in the negotiations involving critical suppliers and/or customers.
  • Compile market research data, inclusive of economic analysis for historical buying trends along with projected supply pricing models.
  • Provide leadership to procurement professionals within GSC as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the given set of categories.
  • Seek solutions to minimize routine purchase transactions, anticipate and effectively remove issues / concerns on behalf of the operations with the suppliers for the categories in given responsibility.
  • Provide resources and guidance to customers regarding procurement and contracting process while managing related activities and requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of procure to pay processes and issues for assigned categories.
  • Prepare and present market/contract analysis on assigned commodities to GSC senior leadership.
  • Maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies.
  • Facilitate the development of standards to maximize value and minimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Develop TCO Model for assigned categories and Maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience in negotiations with large corporations
  • Experience in managing multiple $5M+ categories preferably in the Mining, Industrial, Heavy Manufacturing, etc industries
  • Experience with Supply Chain Modules in SAP and other Contract Management Systems
  • Experience with presenting to leadership around Category Responsibilities


Criteria/Conditions:

  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $102,000-$143,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
