Position Overview:
This position directs credit activities within assigned Ag Lending marketplaces and team members including credit administration, loan analysis, approvals within delegated authorities, monitoring, servicing, and reporting of credit within the organizations’ Ag Lending marketplace portfolio. The leader provides guidance and resources for structuring and ongoing servicing of credit packages. Works with other credit leaders and other business units to build an efficient, cost effective, loan origination process that enhances overall client experience. The incumbent is responsible for developing/driving best practices, managing workload, and performance monitoring across the team. Leads credit efforts and works closely with business units to execute within a team relationship model. Manages team members within assigned marketplaces. Accountable for achieving and maintaining high levels of team engagement. Is a member of Credit Committee and assists the VP Credit Ag Lending in managing credit processes and monitoring portfolios within assigned marketplace.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees credit analysis, approval process and ongoing servicing for credit Ag lending team within assigned marketplaces.
- Maintains credit relationship with a select group of clients by completing ongoing financial analysis, review and making credit decisions for loan requests within delegated authority.
- Remains up to date on the industries serviced by the assigned offices within the marketplace.
- Maintains a working knowledge of various risk mitigation tools including FSA, RFA, SBA, USDA, Farm MAC and FOCAL programs.
- Communicates business expectations and goals to a decentralized team and is responsible for team’s results.
- Selects, develops, motivates, mentors, evaluates and rewards department team members.
- Promotes a positive work environment that leverages the talents and abilities of team members in achieving organizational and team goals.
- Determines performance standards and development plans and effectively communicates them to team members.
- Works with credit, sales and client service teams to provide high quality service to clients.
- Ensures coordination between external clients and Compeer in processing loans.
- Supports all Compeer marketplace development goals and achievement of market share growth.
- Monitors loan portfolio for the organization and provides direction for loan classification.
- Works directly with sales/credit team(s) or with client to develop a plan to cure loan delinquencies.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, agribusiness or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in agriculture credit and operations.
- Three to five years of leadership and management experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
- Solid knowledge of credit processing and servicing activities, accounting principles and practices, credit analysis procedures, credit administration, and portfolio management.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, team building, problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Highly developed negotiating, and influencing skills.
- Ability to deal with internal and external high stress situations and resolving conflicts.
- Leadership skills to select, evaluate, engage, motivate, mentor, train, delegate, reward and lead remote team members.
- Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office applications and client databases such as Web Equity, CRM, and loan origination systems.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
