Position Description: MANAGER, DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS
Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE) is a nonprofit organization in Yonkers, NY that partners with students to ensure they are ready for, enroll in, and complete college. We confront the challenges of a low-income, urban school district by providing families with equitable access to the critical tools and services necessary for college success.
Job Mission: The Manager, Development & Communications, reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships and working closely with the Senior Director, Communication and Director, Community Engagement, is responsible for supporting the management of a robust fundraising program that raises more than $2.5 million annually through a combination of major gifts, corporate, foundation and government partnerships and fundraising events. This role will also help elevate the organization through engaging communications to the YPIE community.
Job Responsibilities
Development and Fundraising (30%): Support YPIE fundraising and partnership efforts
- Preparing grant applications and reports for corporate, foundation, and government donors, ensuring they are compelling and persuasive
- Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of materials to support funding requests
- Conduct research to identify and pursue new foundation and corporate prospects
- With the Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships, complete quarterly tracking reviews of the YPIE strategic plan’s Fundraising Goals
Donor Management (30%): Maintain and update YPIE’s donor management and communications systems
- Manage a system for ensuring the accuracy of contacts in DonorPerfect donor management and Constant Contact email marketing software; Create customized print and email mailing lists
- Directly engage with current and prospective donors/partners including calls and meetings, e.g. thanking donors for contributions and requesting partner support
- Process and record mail and online contributions within 24 hours of receipt
- Prepare donor contribution acknowledgments (letters and emails) to be signed, uploaded to Donor Perfect, and sent to donors within one week of the gift receipt
- Prepare donation reports for staff and board members to review and acknowledge gifts
- Maintain a tracking system for timely responses to corporate, foundation, and government grant applications and reports
Communications (30%): Elevate the organization through engaging communications to the YPIE individual and corporate donor community
- Assist in creating communications to engage YPIE supporters, partners, and other members of the YPIE community, including acknowledgment letters, emails, newsletters, and event recaps
- Add and maintain content on the YPIE website, including news posts, job opportunities, and team updates
- Create and share engaging content on YPIE social media channels
- Create digital assets and imagery highlighting student impact (using Canva or similar graphics tools)
- Capture photos and videos of YPIE student experiences
Events (10%): Support the team in preparing for and executing YPIE external and internal events
- External events include the annual fundraising gala, volunteer gatherings, corporate volunteer engagement projects, and student celebrations; Manage RSVP lists and assist with event deliverables (eg., journal)
- Create online forms using Donor Perfect for general contributions and special event registration and donations

Strong Applicants will possess:
- Strong writing, editing, communications, and organizational skills

- Experience with Google platform, internet searches and research, social media
- Capable of quickly learning new software - DonorPerfect, Constant Contact, Asana, Canva, etc.
- Strategic thinker with a relentless focus on improving systems, coordinating efforts, and using data to drive decision making an unwavering commitment to reaching goals
- A belief in the mission and values of YPIE, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and communities
- Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19

Job Details:
- Salary: Salaried from $48,000 to $65,000 (commensurate with candidate’s experience)
- Hours: Full Time, In-person with some virtual work flexibility
