Job Summary:The primary purpose of this job is to lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) initiatives at the facility level including EHSS site and company goals, EHSS compliance and improvement projects, development and implementation of policies, systems and programs to ensure EHSS excellence and the health and safety of all associates and visitors working at the facility.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Adheres to Integer Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
- Provides EHSS leadership to the facility and serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on EHSS matters by providing guidance as appropriate to site associates. Reviews, interprets, and summarizes EHSS regulations and standards as needed.
- Ensures site EHSS compliance with applicable local, state and federal EHSS regulations, standards, and best practices through development and implementation of policies, procedures, training, reports, permits, registrations, required monitoring, or other items as required.
- Leads EHSS projects and/or supports site associates on EHSS goals and assignments related to associate safety, ergonomics, environmental protection, process safety, or sustainability in manufacturing and research environments.
- Independently assesses new equipment and existing situations, evaluates opportunities, and selects best option based on engineering concepts in order to justify new projects or resolve identified EHSS concerns to improve EHSS programs or reduce risk.
- Ensures a work environment exists which is safe and environmentally friendly, as well as promotion of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) programs and principles.
- Manages the investigation and assessment of incidents and work-related injuries to determine root cause. Tracks EHSS corrective actions for prioritization, completion, and effectiveness.
- Conducts and coordinates EHSS internal self-assessments, as well as internal or external inspections, and reviews, summarizes site EHSS status, develops recommendations, and coordinates activities as needed to maintain compliance with EHSS requirements.
- Provides direction or leads EHSS committees or teams, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and other cross-functional EHSS project teams at the facility. Organizes EHSS management review meetings to ensure top priorities are being addressed, resourced, and progressing.
- Manage daily, weekly, or monthly EHSS reporting and metrics for the facility.
- Supervises EHSS staff (depending on site organization) or support personnel as required.
- Provides direction and support for onsite Medical Services (depending on site organization) as well as compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to injury reporting and medical care.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree EHSS, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science or other EHSS field.
- Minimum Experience: 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with 4 years in a managerial capacity.
- Special Skills: Attention to detail, well-organized, and able to solve problems. Able to manage time in order to complete tasks by required deadlines. Confident to speak in public with good communication and leadership skills. Can work independently, as well as with a team. Ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence others. Self-driven and highly motivated.
- Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding safety, environmental protection and hazardous materials transportation (US example: OSHA, EPA, DOT, and IATA). Knowledge of site specific regulations and standards such as lasers, radiation, process safety, emergency response, permitting, ergonomics, and worker’s compensation. Certifications preferred: First Aid, CPR, AED.
