Overview:
The Tax Manager will manage all aspects of US & Americas indirect tax process including but not limited to Sales Tax, Use Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Gross Receipts Tax, Property Tax, Regulatory Fees and similar taxes.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of US & Americas indirect tax process including but not limited to Sales Tax, Use Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Gross Receipts Tax, Property Tax, Regulatory Fees and similar taxes
  • Partner with commercial operations on customer taxability issues, inquiries and new product taxability
  • Support indirect tax audits, including gathering information, responding to audit requests, tax research and assisting in preparing appeals
  • Review monthly tax reconciliations for indirect tax liability accounts
  • Calculate and manage indirect tax exposure (and risks) under FAS 5
  • Support implementation and maintenance of Vertex Sales and Use Tax software
  • Manage Customer and Vendor Exemption Certificates
  • Lead initiatives to create new processes and develop efficiencies in the indirect tax process
  • Research and analyze the impacts of sales and use tax and goods and services tax law developments
  • Assist in developing and implementing indirect tax planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies
  • Annual Unclaimed Property Recovery and Cross Departmental Collaboration on Unclaimed Property Compliance
  • Cross-Border Withholding Tax Compliance and Mitigation
  • Intercompany Reporting Obligations
  • Works on special projects as directed, including coordination/collection of information
  • Create and maintain excellent relationships with key colleagues across all areas of Cordis
  • Establish and maintain strong relationship with external consultants on tax matters
  • Willingness to expand into other areas within the Tax Department

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years' experience in indirect tax experience, required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, required
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience with indirect tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis
  • Preparation and review experience of indirect tax returns
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Vertex O-Series Sales and Use Tax Software preferred
