ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This role must be viewed as operationally focused working closely with the Project Manager and Equipment Enginering lead in tandem with the Industrial Engineer to drive process optimization, improvement and execution to plan.
- The Manufacturing Engineering Lead shall lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineers and Validation Engineers as well as contractors coordinating day to day activities in support of the manufacturing plan.
- Display expert knowledge of the corporate Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Share information on the corporate environment with the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) function.
- Display expert knowledge of the internal and external engineering environment.
- Share information on the external environment with the ME function.
- Drive efficiencies in current technical systems.
- Manage the development of new technical systems.
- Support the Engineering Manager in the evaluation and equipment needs for today and future needs.
- Support the Engineering Manager with labor forecasting and skills needs in line with new business requirements.
- Undertake technology benchmarking and drive” best in class” engineering solutions.
- Lead and Manage the Manufacturing Engineering Function.
- Agree clear performance metrics.
- Review performance metrics and progress continuously.
- Effectively prepare for and perform informal 1 to 1’s and annual appraisals.
- Identify training / development needs on an ongoing basis.
- Agree individual development plans.
- Provide 1 to 1 coaching to facilitate individual excellence.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Create and manage a succession plan for the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Drive motivation levels within the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Drive consistency of approach and performance.
- Ensure that an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and information exists within the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Review the absence profile and employee turnover within the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Facilitate/ Coach the Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians with regards to their roles & responsibilities within the team.
- Build and Maintains effective Customer Relationships.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Support Business Development through assessing the needs of potential customers in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Leads.
- Provide expert problem solving and customer focused support to individual businesses.
- Drive the Manufacturing Engineering function to provide existing customers with improved business solutions.
- Attend the weekly conference calls with the customer: Demand Engineering, Leadership support and weekly check, Individual PM's meetings, Multivac strategy.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Proactively identify internal customer needs.
- Drive “internal customer focus” mindset within Engineering teams.
- Effectively cascade functional / business information and expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality and delivery.
- Analyse and prioritize areas for Manufacturing Engineering improvement e.g. machine uptime, efficiency improvements.
- Create a continuous improvement culture throughout the Manufacturing Engineering team with proactive presence online focusing on key improvement areas.
- Create quotes as needed by the customer and / or Business Unit Manager.
- Work with engineering disciplines and manufacturing to establish service level agreements.
- Drive as key focus both the site and global objectives through Focus, commit deliver and Lean deployment.
- Attend and lead in key JOS meetings in particular TIC and PMIC.
- 4Q Reports deployment with the team and follow up action plans for: Scrap, Equipment Down time, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
- Layout improvements, process charts, flow diagrams.
- Obtain lean bronze certification and perform Value Props, eKaizen, Cost Improvement Projects.
- Complete all training curriculum on time @ 100%.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
- Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Read and understand visual aid.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing Equipment Lifecycle Management in a 21 CFR Part 820 environment

Medical device packaging and terminal sterilization concepts

Automated electromechanical systems with hands-on troubleshooting skills

Networked equipment and SCADA, CMMS, and MES systems

Selecting, commissioning / decommissioning, and validating automated manufacturing equipment

Technical writing in a regulated environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Technical degree: Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering preferred.

Master degree: Engineering or Business Administration desirable.

+10 years of experience with high-volume manufacturing processes and equipment in the Healthcare / Regulated Industry.
