Within the Medical Business Unit at TE connectivity we innovate and co-create solutions with our customers to make better and safer medical devices for their customers, physicians and patients.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support to Manufacturing, and the development of existing and new process technologies within the Medical Devices business unit. Within this role we specialize in the design and manufacture of minimally invasive delivery and access devices for a range of therapies.
Location : Galway Ireland.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing by providing line support to quality and technical issues.
- Identify and implement product and process improvements within production.
- Improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Responsible for managing the overall equipment performance (OEE) through the appropriate use of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Investigate new process technologies and evaluate potential competitive advantage and the cost benefit of introduction.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Update Manufacturing procedures, specs as required through Engineering Change process.
- Implement equipment maintenance procedures for critical equipment.
- Meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as yield, throughput and productivity.
- Ensuring adherence to high quality compliance and H&S standards.
What your background should look like:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within medical devices industry (preferable)
- Experience with Laser processing and Automation (would be an advantage)
- Catheter assembly experience (would be an advantage) including braided shaft assembly and reflow, tip bonding and handle assembly.
- Practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of ISO & FDA compliance.
- SolidWorks /AutoCAD skill would be an advantage.
- Project management experience with demonstrated ability to plan, organise and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong Communication skills.
