Overview:

Defines and leads efforts supporting manufacturing operations as it relates to Facilities management and Maintenance management. Provides leadership to a team of technical and skilled professionals supporting facilities maintenance, machine maintenance, office and operations through continuous improvement activities. Set daily management targets/ goals, measure actual performance.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities:

• Leads the Machine and Facilities Maintenance team for Midland Manufacturing Skokie site
• Prepare economic justification for capital equipment procurement and installation
• Assume or assign the Project Leader position during installation of approved capital equipment and other capital/improvement projects as approved
• Coordinate and plan projects with other departments and areas within facility to minimize impact to regular operations
• Determine and provide the infrastructure needed to achieve conformity to product requirements
• Maintain and make decisions using maintenance records, analysis and other factors
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
• Leads and enforce all safety rules and PPE requirements applicable to the area
• Leads and ensures all facility areas maintain a neat and clean work environment
• Promote the principles of Lean Manufacturing to achieve Operational Excellence (ODover) within the maintenance areas/ philosophies
• Attend and participate in various production and facility related meetings as required as a member of facility leadership team
• Solicit and manage external third party vendors related to the installation, repair, upkeep and similar for machinery, equipment and the facility
• Being able to get your hands dirty with supporting the team troubleshooting machine and/or building assets
• Other duties as required

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

• Leads the daily activities of the maintenance technicians
• Responsible for reviewing performance, implementing coaching and supporting development

• Leads determining departmental staffing needs, assist in recruiting and placement of team members as needed
• Establish standards and insure compliance to safety and environmental compliance from team members
• Leads defining roles and responsibilities within the area and effectively delegate work with his/ her team

Qualifications/Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operation Management is required
• 5+ years leading teams hitting operational maintenance metrics such as Mean Time to Failure (MTTF), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and similar
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Knowledge of general manufacturing and maintenance methods is required
• Effective leadership skills are required

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

• Computer proficiency in a Windows environment is required, preferably with Microsoft 365 applications is required
• Prior experience using manufacturing software
• Well versed in trouble shooting CNC machinery, tooling technology, automation with cobots, industrial robots
• Development of partnership with vendors supporting facilities and capital assets
• Experience with implementing and driving Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred
• Knowledge of OSHA and environmental standards is preferred
• Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

• This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors
• Position requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
