Marketing Communications Coordinator
Job description
This position serves as part of the Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism’s (DOEDT) marketing and communications team that is charged with creating and implementing a specific marketing and communications strategy for the promotion of the City of Danville as an ideal place to live, work, establish a business, and visit. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for writing and editing short- and long- form content using all available tools, technology, and methods to stimulate economic growth for the region.
- Develops, implements, and coordinates multiple projects and maintains software that promotes Danville and Pittsylvania County to the traveling public and business community.
- Creates print production, electronic advertising, and marketing materials, including promotional brochures, community calendars, newsletters, social media posts, print and online advertisements, radio and television features, promotional videos, etc.
- Develops content and maintains websites and social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and travel-related blogs.
- Maintains effective working relationships with local media, industry media, and writers.
- Writes content for all marketing and communications purposes, including website and social media accounts, media releases, radio and television promotions, and public service announcements. This also includes presentations, video scripts, newsletters, and travel-related blogs that educate readers and showcase our capabilities to support tourism and economic development.
- Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external photographers to maintain a library of current and high-quality photographic images.
- Collaborates with Marketing and Research Manager on data research, creating maps, developing marketing collateral, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and other marketing projects as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned.

- Work is sedentary in nature, requiring moving between office equipment and occasional light physical exertion.
