The Master Scheduler is primarily responsible for the execution of plans and activities that are necessary to satisfy customer orders. A thorough understanding of the company’s MRP system will be required to effectively fulfill the requirements of this position. This position will act as the main point of contact with our Customer Service team regarding any customer requirements/changes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize MRP to plan, prioritize, schedule, continuously improve, and control activities required to accurately meet the Sales, and Operations Plan (SOP).
- Develops and communicates daily schedules for production departments under scheduler’s control and prioritizes requirements. Monitors production’s performance to schedules.
- Works closely with the Configurator Team to help ensure the Configurator is working properly.
- Creates and plans production work orders to support Sales Orders.
- Contributes to the Sales and Operations Planning Report, attends SOP meeting.
- Acts as the data steward for planning and scheduling related ERP parameters.
- Responds to new customer orders and changes to existing customer orders by taking steps to ensure the order information is communicated to all departments and individuals involved.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely closing of jobs to ensure accurate WIP inventory.
- Makes every effort to focus on doing-it-right to make sure the customer is satisfied.
- Investigates work order variances and develops corrective actions to address.
- Provides value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Timely creation of Work Orders in order to meet On-time shipments.
- Work Order completion; accuracy prior to posting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate with employees throughout the plant.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BS Degree in Business Administration OR Associates Degree and five (5) years’ experience as a planner for a manufacturing facility.
- 3-5 years of working expertise with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of an organization
- 2+ years of scheduling in Epicor preferred
- Knowledge and experience with multi-level bills of material and associated routings
