Overview:
Challenger Lifts, Inc., a division of Snap-on is seeking a candidate to d esign and develop products for automotive lift equipment applications. Must be capable of taking total systems level responsibility for a product design. Can direct the technical work of other engineers and technicians.


Responsibilities:
  • Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements including packaging for automotive lift equipment industry. Must be able to perform in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines and nationalities.
  • Assist in implementation of new products.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records.
  • Responsible for creation of User Manuals, BOM’s and Routers.
  • Test and validate automotive lift products to assure product performance and quality.
  • Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
  • Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and/or improve performance of designs.
  • Develop an understanding of the company’s products and their applications.
  • Review the work of others.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science with a minimum of 3 years design experience.
  • Up to date knowledge in mechanical design.
  • Capable of performing CAD based stress analysis and other related calculations to support designs.
  • Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly hydraulics.
  • Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
  • Must possess good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design and testing. Auto CAD experience is preferred.
  • Must have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
Project management and customer interface experience is a plus.
