About Beaumont
With a population of more than 118,000, Beaumont ,Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Beaumont has been a home to the oil industry from the days of the Spindletop oil boom until today, and along with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, is part of the Golden Triangle industrial area on the Texas Gulf Coast. What role you will play in our team
We are looking for Electrical Specialists in our Mechanical group at our Beaumont, Texas Refinery. An employee, to be qualified as an Electrical Specialist must demonstrate an ability to safely install all components of electrical systems. The Electrical Specialist should have the skills necessary to safely troubleshoot, analyze, and repair components of these systems. These systems consist of components including but not limited to: motors, transformers, switch gears, lighting, relays, battery systems and chargers, distribution wiring and piping, UPS Systems, and similar equipment.
What you will do
Provides technical and troubleshooting support to maintenance/operations technicians, FLS, PMC and engineering.- Provides technical support for outside shops and oversees repairs
- Troubleshoot electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts.
- Work with the reliability engineer to develop and maintain electrical equipment strategies.
- Assist mechanical planners with reviews of electrical job packs and turnaround packages.
- Updates Mechanical Integrity Procedures and reviews maintenance records.
- Interprets blueprints, Electrical One line drawings, Electrical Schematics and perform work by these or verbal instructions.
- Troubleshoots and make recommendations for repairing electric controls & motor control centers.
- Supervise switching of Main and Tie breakers when making equipment ready for maintenance work in the Substations.
- Plan and co-ordinate UPS/switchgear battery station replacements.
- Train Technicians, Operations Supervisors and contractors working out of our shop on Standby Person for racking in/racking out breakers.
- Provide guidance for following the Tier 1 BP for Electrical Safety.
- Understands and utilizes Management of Change and Control of Defeat procedures.
- Review MOC drawing packages for E&I Projects. Attend drawing review meetings.
- Follow MOC and Project work in the field and participate in Pre Start-Up Safety Reviews.
- Help support to create infrastructure needs for the business five year plan.
- Complete assigned safety and reliability IMPACT items and assist with investigations of incidents.
- Assist locating drawings, schematics, loops, underground, cable schedules and P&IDs.
- Follow repairs of equipment in local shops, review “as found” reports from vendors and advise mechanical on repair or replacement options.
- Monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacements.
- Receives training in new or changed codes, procedures and processes relating to the industrial electrical field.

Skills and Qualifications
- The Maintenance Mechanical Specialist should have proven leadership capabilities with strong management, communication and team working skills, through combination of formal training and experience and a proven reputation to set high standards and promote improvements
- Ability to identify job or safety hazards for all employees and mitigate hazards through use of approved methods.
- Ability to isolate electrical equipment, defects in wiring, switches, etc. through Lock Out, Tag Out.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of electrical test instruments.
- Ability to read instrument & electrical blueprints through the full range of industrial maintenance and construction work.
- Ability to install and maintain various types of motors, motor control systems, motored operated valves, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
- Ability to install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacements.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on High Voltage Substations, High Voltage Transformers, Breakers, and distribution panels.
- Demonstrated use of computers and their programs in field calibration, communication, documentation, and record keeping functions.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Knowledgeable in the local site Routine Maintenance Best Practices and the EM Reliability (RCM) and Maintenance Management.
- Trained on T1BP Electrical Safe Work Practices, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) & incident investigation
- Qualified tradesman or professional, with experience in maintenance execution, planning and scheduling standards and as well as maintenance Best Practices.
