SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, organizing and managing engineering changes resulting in new products, quality resolution and production support.

Engineering Projects – (90% Time Allotted)

· Design, document, validate and review new products releases, quality fixes and production support required changes

· Perform design changes and manage Engineering Change Notices through Solidworks and the EPDM system

· Create and execute product test plans that ensure designs have been fully validated and that they meet the necessary system specifications and performance requirements

· Communicate effectively across departments to ensure successful implementation of engineering changes

· Utilize root cause analysis tools and process for timely resolution of quality issues

· Prepare product test reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends

· Perform self-review of work to ensure it has been completed with a high level of accuracy

· Evaluate the technical feasibility of product change requests

· Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices

· Incorporate innovative ideas, processes, and technologies into engineering activities

· May perform other duties as assigned.

Administrative – (10% Time Allotted)

· Develop project plans, timelines, resource requirements and milestones for assigned projects

· Provide regular updates as to timeline, budgetary goals and overall project progress to the Engineering Manager

· This job has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· 10 years of engineering experience preferred

· Preference given to candidates with Solidworks and EPDM experience

· Manufacturing experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

· Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in person, on the phone, and in writing

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The employee must have adequate hearing and visual acuity. The position requires being seated a good portion of the day. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

PPE REQUIREMENTS:

· In compliance with OSHA standards it has been determined that Safety glasses and steel toe footwear are required on the plant floor

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Climate varies – Work is typically in heated/air-conditioned office setting or Engineering Lab, though work in the unheated/air-conditionedplant floor is regularly required.

· Extensive exposure to fluorescent lighting

· Regular exposure to vibration from the Foundry and Machine Shop

· Regular exposure to noise levels found in the Foundry and Machine Shop

· Dust and dirt in the work environment

WORK HOURS:

· Expected to work 40+ hours weekly

· Typical office hours are worked between 7am-6pm Monday thru Friday

· Work hour requirements will vary with business needs

· Up to 10% travel may be required
