Job Overview:
Our team provides engineering support in the design, construction, and maintenance, for select Missile Defense Complex (MDC) facilities on Fort Greely. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible to lead and prepare engineering design criteria documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, generators, and various other special systems. Manages mechanical design process and orchestrates the planning, design, cost estimating, and phased scheduling for projects. Assess feasibility and completeness of proposed engineering tests, equipment, projects, and designs. Provides engineering support for both preventative and corrective maintenance as well as trouble analysis.
Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Perform mechanical design and planning work for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities.
    • Primary deliverables include scopes of work, specifications documents, and cost estimates for future projects.
  • Utilize professional knowledge of mechanical theory, standard engineering theory and techniques, and Army/DOD codes and regulations to perform requirements, determinations, technical assistance, and conventional design work.
  • Ability to work independently, or with minimal supervision, relying heavily on prior professional experience and knowledge of local and state regulations.
  • Ensures the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency and makes recommendations for improvement when necessary.
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the work effort of WCFS Maintenance techs, if/when/as required for specific repairs.
  • Supports mechanical projects during construction, including coordinating answers to Requests for Information, Change Orders, and solving problems that arise in the field.
  • Serves as consulting engineer for mechanical related design aspects of assigned projects.
    • Provides professional consultations on a broad range of difficult mechanical engineering issues and problems, and advice to requesting organizations.
  • Assist in determining requirements, assembling requirements document, attending RFP/Design charrettes and the RFP/Design processes.
  • Engages Engineering Support personnel for CADD and GIS support during project development.
  • Promotes sustainable design and development principles (LEED) in professional activities.
  • Serves as mechanical engineer-of-record for design documents and reports covering mechanical systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Current Secret level security clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
