Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team at our campus in Chelmsford, MA. Our site designs and manufactures RF and microwave components and systems for use in missile applications and other harsh military environments. We incorporate the use of modern design tools in the relevant design disciplines of RF/microwave, analog/digital, and mechanical/thermal engineering. Also on premises are state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facilities, and ESS test capabilities.
In this role Engineering Manager will support the development and production of complex multi-function electronics modules used in challenging high reliability applications in all phases of the product life cycle.
The Engineering Manager will have the opportunity to develop innovative technical solutions as well as provide leadership to project teams. The manager will have the opportunity to define, develop, and lead continuous process improvement activities associated with all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering department. The manager will have the opportunity to balance priorities of new development efforts along with manufacturing support issues in a dynamic environment. The manager will have the opportunity to act as a spokesperson for Mechanical Engineering issues internally and externally to the wider organization.

The Locale: Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire's White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.
It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical field and at least 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience is required.
- 2 years of experience leading technical personnel in a cohesive and inspirational manner is required.
- Experience with one of these four key technical areas is required: Mechanical Design, Mechanical Analysis (FEA, Structural, Thermal), Manufacturability, or Electronics Packaging is required.
- Experience managing cost and schedule and technical aspects of projects is required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
- Candidate must be eligible to obtain a secret clearance and be able to obtain at least an interim secret security clearance before starting the position.
- An MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical field is desired.
- Proficiency with electronics packaging layout and design is desired.
- Proficiency with RF/microwave packaging design and manufacturing is desired.
- Proficiency with environmental testing including thermal, shock and vibration environments is desired.
- Experience in structural and thermal FEA analysis is desired.
- Experience in design and manufacturing of circuit cards and hybrid/microwave microelectronics is desired.
- Experience in military contracting environment is desired.
- Experience in growing organizational talent through informal coaching and formal performance reviews is desired.
- Experience leading successful technical projects is desired.
