About the role:
Executes on the annual Medical Strategic Plan for Interventional Oncology (IO) Product(s), (flexing across portfolios, as needed), by completing deliverables in support of IO product strategy and by providing medical and scientific therapeutic area expertise to cross-function teams. Identifies and engages HCPs through collaborative partnerships to enhance educational initiatives, to advance the appropriate application of therapies that provide life enhancing outcomes. Supports IO medical writing needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivers on the Global Medical Plan tactics supporting activities around data dissemination, knowledge exchange/communication and provides ongoing scientific support for initiatives related to product(s)
- Creates tools (e.g. slide sets, manuals, summary papers) to effectively communicate clinical data, product knowledge and usage to health care professionals (HCPs), and to internal stakeholders in a way that ensures effective and thorough understanding of the medical application of the device in treating appropriate patients
- Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the industry, expert speakers, and well-known academics who can deliver the defined medical education curriculum as well as provide technical and clinical insight with real-world applications
- Manages publication related activities associated with product(s) including issuing regular bibliography updates, highlighting key publications, and tracking competitor publication activity
- Leads global publication update meetings
- Develops approach, scope, and methodology of training to maximize impact by determining target audience, time, location requirements, and other applicable factors.
- Conducts post-program evaluations of content and faculty, remain aware of all changes that may impact training requirements, and implement changes/improvements to training protocols and materials accordingly
- Develops relationships with HCPs and field personnel through scheduled meetings and other interactions
- Effectively executes activities of major significance to the organization and represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on operations or contracts.
- Engages identified HCPs and KOLs to demonstrate the clinical outcome and benefits of company products, technologies and therapies, to exchange clinical, safety and comparative-effectiveness information, to explore clinical areas of need and to discuss corporate initiatives.
Required qualifications:
- Degree in the Life Sciences required, advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience preferably within the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry
- Proven success within the Medical Affairs and/or Marketing functions including implementation of medical strategic plans and medical education initiatives
- Excellent analytical, verbal, written and presentation skills
- Proven success creating and maintaining relationships with HCPs
- Therapeutic area experience within oncology and /or embolotherapy is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of global healthcare standards
- Strong medical/scientific writing skills
- Good understanding of regulatory guidelines and Good Clinical Practices
Preferred qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple projects and product responsibilities and work independently
- Ability to work effectively with others in a matrix environment
- Ability to develop strategic solutions to unique, significant and extremely complex business issues
- Demonstration of a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented Boston Scientific quality processes and procedures.
- Ability to travel within North America, as needed
