One of the leading outpatien Surgical providers is hiring a Medical Coding Billing Specialist. Job Summary: The ideal candidate will possess experience in Medical Billing/Coding, with a strong knowledge of Billing and Collection practices for a multi-specialty outpatient facility. Accountable for understanding and coding all procedures within regulatory mandates. Responsible for verifying and notifying patient of any outstanding deductible and co-insurance, prior to upcoming procedure/surgery. Review and allocate the appropriate payments per payor contract and make necessary adjustment to patient accounts. Follow up on outstanding insurance claims, submit appeals and perform miscellaneous office duties as needed. Essential responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Job Responsibilities:

• Accountable for reviewing daily schedules for estimates, authorization and 3rd party billing
• Enter patients demographics and insurance information for upcoming procedures/surgeries
• Verifies patients eligibility and benefits for upfront collection on unmet deductibles and co-insurance
• Contacts physician/anesthesia billing personnel regarding Global Cases
• Responsible for reviewing operative reports and assigning appropriate CPT, HCPS, modifiers and ICD-10 within three (3) business days of procedure/surgery
• Enters charges accurately according to insurance payors/contracts

Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

• A minimum of at least one (1) year in billing experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, techniques and surgical procedures; anatomy and physiology; major disease processes; pharmacology; and the metric system.
• Knowledge of reimbursement systems, as well as federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to medical documentations, billing and coding.
• Skill and ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations; read and interpret medical procedures and terminology; exercise independent judgment; and prepare reports and related documents.
• Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, verbal and written communication
• Skill and ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers and physicians
• Skill and ability to review the work of others and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work independently with minimal instructions
• Excellent Customer Service and phone etiquette skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload
• Helpful attitude, positive teamwork spirit with a willingness to help

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines
• Coding Certificate program, AAPC or AHIMA accredited preferred
