The Opportunity:
Verona Pharma is currently recruiting an Associate Director, Medical Communications to join our team, reporting to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs. This is primarily a remote role, however you will periodically be required to go into the Raleigh office for key meetings, trainings, and other activities as needed. In the role of Medical Communications Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting the evolving commercial needs of the organization by working as part of the pivotal interface between Verona Pharma's Medical and Commercial organizations. Through internal collaboration with Clinical Development, Market Access, and Commercial, you will support efforts to maximize the clinical benefit and commercial value of our portfolio.
To be successful in this role, you will be strategically minded and operationally savvy, and will partner externally with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes through evidence-based scientific data.
Responsibilities:
- Develop in-depth therapeutic knowledge of disease, epidemiology, product and competitor product information; act as a resource to others outside of the department.
- Establish professional relationships with the medical community and exchange scientific knowledge with global and regional key opinion leaders to identify current and future business opportunities and emerging medical and health care practices.
- Develop medical content for scientific exchange, advisory boards, educational symposia/programs, training initiatives, engagement of key opinion leaders and congress plans to ensure alignment with scientific platform.
- Assist in the execution of the Medical Affairs plans including, but not limited to, Publication Planning, Medical Advisory Boards, Educational Programs, Training, and Conferences.
- Work with internal team to develop key messages on disease state, MOA, target product profile, HEOR modeling, etc.
- Review relevant science and competitive landscape and lead the evaluation of the health economics landscape and subsequent development of our outcomes research plans.
- Proactively distributes important product and/or medical information to enhances medical and product knowledge within the Sales Force, Marketing, Field Medical and other departments by disseminating relevant information on a consistent basis.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date medical documents, including standard response letters, FAQs, Dossiers, etc. and delivers high-quality, balanced, and timely written or verbal medical information and oversee the Medical Information Call Center.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- PhD, PharmD or MD degree with experience in the pharmaceutical industry within Medical Affairs.
- An innovative mind that can work collaboratively to establish the strategic business perspective to successfully, accelerate and maximizing the commercial value of Verona Pharma’s innovation while accounting for future consequences and trends.
- Ability to execute deliverables with input and assistance from internal and external resources.
- Ability to analyze and summarize data, think critically, and manage multiple projects.
- An entrepreneurial and hands-on attitude and highly self-motivated.
- Enjoy working in a good natured, high energy, scientifically driven environment, with highly motivated and experienced colleagues, while interfacing comfortably with the executive leadership team.
- Ability to foster strong relationships with international academic healthcare professionals and medical organizations to keep the organization informed of changing medical practice and unmet medical needs.
- Ability to analyze and summarize data, think critically, and manage multiple projects.
- Strong outward-facing presence in the US and global respiratory community and will require domestic and international travel up to 20%.
