Applications are invited for the following post: Medical Laboratory Aide (1 year Specified Purpose Contract | 39 hours per week)

The position of Medical Laboratory Aide is to support the preparation of specimens for analysis in the NOHC Laboratories (Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Microbiology) and the preparation of specimens to referral Laboratories.

The extent and speed of change in the delivery of health care, is such, that adaptability is essential in this position. The applicant will be required to maintain and enhance their knowledge, skills, and aptitudes necessary to respond to a changing situation. The job description must be regarded as an outline of the major areas of accountability at the present time which will be reviewed and assessed on an on-going basis.

Criteria:

  • Be educated to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent.
  • Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of duties of the post. Experience in a laboratory setting is desirable.
  • Have excellent computer and keyboard skills.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems is desirable.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Can work on own initiative, prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail.
