Medical Records Assistant/Admin Specialist I

Position is a Medical Records Assistant located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders.
Employees at this level independently perform a moderate variety of tasks within specific work guidelines. The majority of time is spent performing tasks in support of a work process or processes or a program involving the selection from alternative actions within specific procedural and operational guidelines.
- Work requires general knowledge of medical office practices and procedures to review, verify, complete, record, and/or balance records, reports and figures.
- Duties within the public contact function involve interaction with medical providers, vendors, and hospital staff.
- Employees usually function independently within defined guidelines.
- Matters requiring additional interpretation are referred to the immediate supervisor.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Prior administrative experience in a medical office, Urgent Care or hospital setting;
- Documented experience with Microsoft office products;
- Documented prior experience working directly with medical providers, vendors and hospital staff.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $35,788.00 - $62,628.00 per year
