Conducts a. variety of laboratory tests and duties according to established laboratory procedure, and in compliance with Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures.
Evening shift M-F 2:30pm to 11pm
- Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
- Practices only within the boundaries of competence,based on documented education, training, supervised experience, state and national professional credentials, and appropriate professional experience.
- Provides health services of a scope, quality, and quantity consistent with Cherokee Nation policies.
- Collects laboratory specimens such as urine, blood, etc., and ensures these specimens are collected at the proper time and patients have received proper instructions and/or preparation.
- Performs specimen testing and prepares specimens appropriately according to test procedures being performed. Maintains integrity of specimens.
- Performs and documents quality control.
- Resolves technical problems and takes remedial actions whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Ensures that patient's results are not reported' until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
- Calculates and arranges quality control data in a meaningful and concise manner. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments according to established protocols.
- Performs routine maintenance, calibration, and standardization on all instruments within an
- Recognizes any malfunction of instruments and take immediate corrective action to restore proper operation of the instrument.
- Notifies clinician when test results will be delayed.
- Assures adequate inventory is kept with cost containment in mind so the laboratory can function without delay and with a minimum of waste.
- Prepares reports in a timely fashion with information available in a concise, readable organized manner.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to general safety, hazardous communication, Chemical Hygiene Plan and Blood Borne Pathogens.
- Adheres to professional ethical standards.
- Maintains verifiable records at an institution or facility that has a published records retention policy- that is equal to or exceeds the retention required by federal, tribal and/or state regulations.
- Maintains the confidentiality of any information received from any person or source about a client/patient, unless authorized in writing by the client/patient or required by law or court order.
- Complies with the applicable state and federal regulations in regard to the security, safety and confidentiality of any health services record created, maintained, transferred, or destroyed, whether the record is written, taped, computerized, or stored in any other medium.
Requirements-
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience
Must be a registered Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologists
Preference: Experience with Cerner Millennium and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzer
Certs: BLS
Attire: Solid color scrubs- Hunter Green is preferred (NO Maroon or Royal Blue)
Good written and verbal communication skills
Meet pre-employment credentialing clearances (Background Check and Drug Screen)
Ability to meet physical demands (stand; walk; sit; climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl), and lift up to 50lbs
