Compass Health is currently looking for a Part-Time Mental Health Counselor / Clinician II for our Adult Outpatient program in Whatcom County. Our new Clinician will be provide a range of clinically indicated services, including but not limited to individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, and case management services for adults with behavioral health conditions and their families/natural supports. This position is responsible for assessing client/family functioning and needs, and partnering with the client/family to develop an individually tailored care plan designed to address the client/families goals. This position may also provide clinical support to Interns as appropriate.

The Adult Team team you would be joining:
The Adult Outpatient Program provides a broad spectrum of counseling services to adult clients who have mental health issues. This service gives the assistance clients need to reduce or manage their mental health symptoms by improving their coping and daily living skills. Services include individual, group therapy, case management, as well as community support services.
There are many reasons why an adult may seek mental health treatment including those related to depression, anxiety, and mood disorders that impede their quality of life. More severe or debilitating symptoms associated with trauma, psychosis and schizophrenia are also common reasons for someone to seek mental health treatment.
Compass Health utilizes a number of evidence-based practices to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and illness management and recovery.
We operate out of our clinic space for in clinic appointment options and provide telehealth alternatives as needed.

(Please note: Employees working between 18 and 29 hours per week are eligible for pro-rated coverage, and employees working less than 18 hours per week are not eligible for insurance benefits.)
- VACATION
- Where will you go with 3+ weeks of vacation time? Compass Health offers 16 days of paid vacation to all employees during their first year of employment. Employees also accrue additional vacation days with increased tenure, so the longer you work here the more vacation time you earn! Additionally, unused vacation time can even be carried over to the next year.
- SICK TIME
- Take time to rest and heal with 12 additional sick days. Full-time and part-time employees accrue one day of paid sick leave for each month of employment, meaning you earn 12 sick days on top of 16 vacation days. We also offer employees the option to convert sick leave to vacation time once a year.
- PAID HOLIDAYS
- Make traditions and enjoy all your family time with 13 paid holidays. Compass Health employees are given 11 paid holidays each year, plus two personal floating holidays that can be used any time. Our paid holidays include: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
- EDUCATION
- We’ll help you continue to learn and give you time to grow. Compass Health has established an education fund for each regular full-time employee of $300, and provides 5 days of education leave per calendar year. Both the education funds and the leave time can also be carried over for a maximum of one year.

- Saving for the future has never been this easy. All Compass Health employees can immediately enroll in our 403(b) retirement plan upon hire. After a year of employment, Compass Health automatically provides a base contribution of 3 percent of gross pay into a retirement fund. Additionally, we match up to 2 percent more of an employee’s voluntary deferrals.
- LOAN FORGIVENESS
- Your expertise is needed, but your student debt might not be. Compass Health offers the opportunity to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF), which allows eligible full-time employees to potentially seek forgiveness on a federal loan up to $57,000. The PSLF forgives the remaining balance of qualified Direct Loans after 120 qualifying payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan, while working full-time for a qualifying employer.

What you will bring with you:
- MA/MS/MSW Degree in a Behavioral Science related field.
- Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined by WAC preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Practices, or interest and ability to learn.
- Individuals who do not already hold a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with complex needs and multi-system involvement.
- Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- General computer proficiency, including the ability to utilize electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, which may or may not include an additional search by DSHS.
