VISTA-PARACa Members will be paired with Mentes Puertorriqueñas en Acción and a partner nonprofit organization to work on a variety of projects focused on capacity development. AmeriCorps Summer Associates in our program will work to increase the effectiveness and outreach of community organizations and small NGOs working on social, environmental, and economic impact projects. Tasks will include, but are not necessarily limited to; logistics, resource development, project sustainability, investigation, establishing volunteer programs, event coordination, and training. They can also aid in establishing the research and documentation needed to obtain new funding and work with developing the organization's systems to help them become more successful programs. Each VISTA will be tasked with the goal to raise resources equivalent to at least $1,000.00 for their site organization during their time of service to facilitate resource acquisition and project sustainability. Mentes Puertorriqueñas en Acción is a 501c3 organization dedicated to fostering civic engagement and integrating social impact to young professionals early professional development. Partner sites include but are not limited to: Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico, Inc., Ciencia Puerto Rico, Coordinadora Paz para las Mujeres, Firmes, Unidos y Resilientes con la Abogacía (FURIA), Inc., Puerto Rico Consortium for Clinical Investigation (PRCCI), Fundación por la Arquitectura (FxA) and Conocimiento Digital en Tus Manos,Inc. (CoDEM, Inc.). Member’s service to these organizations will translate into sustainable development improving the conditions for them to tackle poverty through their services and programming.
