Overview
The Meter Reader Technician places a high priority on safety and quality while driving, parking, and reading gas meters.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, attendance, and attention to detail. Meter reading is performed by driving a vehicle containing equipment which collects meter data. This role requires light to moderate physical activity and working in a wide variety of weather conditions. Bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting are required when performing this role. The Meter Reader Technician role includes overtime when required.


Responsibilities and Tasks Performed

• Reads electric, gas and water meters as defined by specific project
• Collects data using handheld computer or other collection device
• Wears assigned Personal Protective Equipment and company uniform
• Follows safety, quality and operational procedures
• Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date
• Identifies hazards or unsafe conditions at meter sites and reports accordingly
• Participates in safety meetings
• Provides timely reports and documentation to management per procedures
• Escalates issues and questions to Supervisor per procedures
• Shows courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
• Maintains a satisfactory attendance record
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Keeps assigned vehicle clean
• Reports customer, equipment and vehicle issues immediately

Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License.
• Safe Driver with a clean license
• Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and online background check
• Drug/Alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees reading Water, Electric, meters
