Job description
CBRE’S integrated laboratory solutions (ILS) delivers a range of industry-leading, innovative solutions to optimize business-critical laboratory operations, improve efficiency, asset availability and uptime, reduce cost and risk and enable greater time for science and scientific achievement. We are currently hiring a calibration/ metrology technician for our life science service line.
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the service delivery to customers and the preventive maintenance of equipment; manages the activities of the team members of the department in the service delivery to customers.
What you’ll do
Manages financial budgets and goals; balances workload, equipment and human assets as necessary to improve efficiency.
Manages the organization to achieve customer satisfaction. Works with customers with the renewal and expansion of calibration service agreements.
Ensures technical support is available for field and sales personnel. Plans and provides technical and on the job training opportunities to personnel to foster personal growth and enhance technical capability of the service organization.
Ensures department remains technically proficient in metrology methods, theory, and statistical techniques relevant to laboratory operations.
Responsible for ISO/IEC 17025 technical elements. Point of contact for audits; justifies technical processes to auditors.
Prepares estimates for on-site and in lab calibration work.
Metrology laboratory workload planning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory responsibilities
Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. Manages a functional work unit and/or group.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree (AA/AS), College Diploma in electronics or metrology, or equivalent related field of study or training required. Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.
Knowledge of national and international metrology quality systems and standards.
Proficient in electronic, physical dimensional, and thermo-dynamic calibrations.
Minimum two years of supervisory experience in directing or leading the work of others preferred.
Communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
Financial knowledge
Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.
Reasoning ability
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Intermediate skills with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suite and Online Help.
Knowledge of FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLPs (Good Laboratory Practices) within the pharmaceutical industry and use of scientific notation.
Knowledge of blueprints, schematic diagrams and specification manuals. Understanding of national and international metrology quality systems standards.
Scope of responsibility
Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve results and due dates. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
