TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.


Supports manufacturing of products for medical devices with work including writing or verifying specifications, maintaining product process, designing fixtures, test processes, equipment, and raw materials to ensure that the subassemblies and finished products meet their requirements. Work closely with R&D, Quality in supporting the development of new products and manufacturing processes to achieve a smooth, successful transfer to Manufacturing Engineering and production launch.


Primary Responsibilities
1. Assists in projects related to new and existing manufacturing processes, new products, product changes and enhancements, as well as tooling and fixturing
2. Drafts and executes validations and/or qualifications for product, equipment, and processes
3. Provide mechanical design concepts for new equipment and fixturing to improve manufacturing process capability, capacity, efficiency, cost, and quality
4. Use critical thinking skills to solve equipment/fixture technical problems
5. Collects and analyzes data, generates engineering reports, and identifies root causes for equipment/fixture functional issues
6. Manage builds for new product development in prototype and pilot production setting, including training of operators and coordination with production planning
7. Analyze data and improve processes to assure robust/repeatable manufacturing processes
8. Confers with appropriate departments, resources, and/or outside services to prepare process modifications, clarify problems and develop processes
9. Manage process validation and product transfer activities across different manufacturing facilities and product lines
10. Review and develop manufacturing documents (MP, Routers, BOM, Drawings, Specifications, etc.)


Skills
1. Understanding of statistical process analysis tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Cpk for process development characterization and optimization
2. Solid proficiency in technical documentation, including CAD modeling and engineering drawings
3. Knowledge of mechanical design with SolidWorks
4. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, be well-organized, ability to work in a fast-paced self-directed environment
5. Working knowledge of conventional and/or CNC machining processes a plus

Pre-Requisition / Job Experience
1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering
2. 0-2 years of medical device and mfg. process development experience
3. Demonstrated expertise with inferential statistical process analysis techniques
4. Demonstrated understanding with mechanical design methods using Solidworks


Physical Requirements
1. Extended periods of sitting or standing
2. Extended periods working in a cleanroom environment
3. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
4. Extended periods of computer usage

COMPENSATION
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $62.5K - 93.7K annually (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
