Intellectechs, Inc is seeking a (Microbiologist) Scientist I to support the Research Laboratory Support contract based at the USEPA Research lab in Triangle Park, NC. The Qualified individual will provide research support to the Center of Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response team which require lab work and data processing.

Job Duties:

• Analyzing a high throughput of microbiological samples from different types of media
• writing SOP's, Project Plans, and QA documents
• Chemical Inventory and Proper Disposal of Lab Waste
• Sample Tracking
• Chain Custody reviews
• Troubleshooting issues
• General Lab Chores, making agar plates, and autoclaving

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in Microbiology, Biology, or Biochemistry
• 2 years of experience working in a laboratory handling mammalian cell culture
• Experience with protocols for propagating viruses such as MHV in murine cell lines
• Experience with sterile cell culture technique, storage and titration of viral stocks, microscopy, cell counting with a hemocytometer
• Experience with bacteriophages MS2 and Phi6 and plaque assays
• Experience with qPCR, enzyme applications, and DNA extractions is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and willingness to work in a fast-paced team environment are all required
• Able to clearly communicate findings both orally and in writing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Platform, experience with SigmaPlot
• Must be proactive, and demonstrate a mature, positive attitude.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
