About the Position
We are seeking a Middle School Science teacher who is excited to join our team and will embrace the Core Values of Mosier Community School. We believe in building Relationships, expecting Rigor and teaching with Relevance.
Teachers are supported through bi-weekly meetings with the K-8 staff, professional learning communities, and regular professional development.
All teachers have an opportunity to become part of the Mosier Teachers Association and are supported through their Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Job Functions
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching, particularly in the areas of Middle School Science.
  • Experience in differentiation and inclusion for students with special needs.
  • Use the Responsive Classroom model for building and maintaining a classroom community.
  • Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering an individual student’s culture, learning styles, special needs and socio-ecomonic background.
  • Provide instruction, organization, and management in the classroom, which creates a respectful and positive environment conducive to learning.
  • Participate in collaborative leadership structure through K-8 team, multiage team, and biweekly staff meetings.
  • Approach problems with flexibility, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbally and in written form.
  • Adheres to Ethical Educator & Professional Practices as set forth by Teacher Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC)
  • Adhere to all school systems, protocols and policies that are developed.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student information.
  • Arrive at work on time, punctually attend and actively participate in all required meetings and training.

Knowledge of and experience with:
  • Knowledge of current trends, research and best practices related to Middle School Science Instruction.
  • Knowledge of Common Core with an emphasis on 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with Multiage Education and Project-Based Units preferred.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Standard Oregon State Teaching License
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Meets state standards for the position (OAR584-100-0002 through OAR584-100-0111)
  • For teachers with Oregon state certification: maintain a valid Oregon teaching license registered in the manner provided by law during employment.
  • For teachers without Oregon state certification: maintain a valid Oregon Charter School Registration in the manner provided by law during employment.
