The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.
Imagery Programs Division’s (IPD) Reconnaissance Systems (RS) Office is looking for an engineer with RF systems engineering, test, and project management experience to be the mission payload systems engineer in a next generation RF mission payload major system acquisition. The mission payload systems engineer role will coordinate review and sell-off of requirements, manage teams to address and resolve risks and issues in system-level testing, and coordinate across interfaces to ensure mission success.
This position requires 100% in-person work and can be located in Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting radar mission payload requirements verification review, sell-off, and trades
  • Providing technical leadership to Aerospace engagement in integrated radar mission payload testing to include on-orbit test planning
  • Leading non-conformance, anomaly, and major technical issue response teams, directing supporting SMEs in design evaluation, test, and analysis, consolidating input, and providing recommendations in support of root cause and corrective action efforts for integrated radar mission payload testing
  • Coordinating radar mission payload support for milestone reviews
  • Providing on-site Aerospace presence and communicating with the customer, SETA contractors, and development contractors
  • Collaborating with SETA and government customer counterparts to meet mission needs

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, other related engineering, or a related technical field
  • Twelve (12) or more years of responsible professional engineering experience
  • Experience in systems engineering for space development programs
  • Experience with development and test of RF or other satellite hardware
  • Prior engineering leadership or project management experience
  • Willing to support frequent travel (typically 1-2 weeks per month)
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in RF or electrical engineering
  • Experience working in radar payloads for National Security Space customers
  • Experience balancing technical detail and broader programmatic perspectives
  • Understanding of and experience working with a matrixed engineering organization.
  • Ability to function effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively with limited supervision
  • Strong customer focused demeanor with outstanding skills in coordinating exchanges between technical staff and the customer.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
