We are currently recruiting for a Motor Engineer to join our Claims Team.
Reporting to Motor Engineer Team Leader, the Motor Engineer will assess prospects of repair v total loss using engineering tools available, supporting an efficient, cost effective and timely motor inspection service and delivering fair settlement recommendations in line with AXA procedures, guidelines, and regulatory obligations. The role will start with desktop assessment, developing into audit, field and court attendance.
We’re looking for an experienced motor engineer, with experience gained in a garage workshop/vehicle repair environment, qualified in Automotive Repair or similar, and experience in estimating and negotiating with a strong customer focus.

Responsibilities:
- Conducts technical investigations and provides detailed reports; including HPI, MIAFTR, Audatex estimates accurately detailing the correct repair method and costings
- Provides valuations within the Glass’s Guide with appropriate adjustments based on local market
- Negotiates settlement with suppliers and customers. effectively control and reduce repair costs
- Delivers and maintains technical and safety standards training
- Identify and refer potential cases of fraud to Special Investigations Unit (SIU) using red flag indicators and handler intuition to avoid commercial loss through potentially fraudulent claims
- Provides expert evidence in court and/ or at legal consultations
- Conducts audit inspections and collates/co-ordinates audit data
- Monitors contractual performance and Service Level Agreements of suppliers within the working area
Your Profile
- 5+ Years experience in a similar role, practical experience gained in a garage workshop/vehicle repair environment (time served apprentice).
- BTEC/ City and Guilds full technical certificate or having a minimum of NVQ3 in Automotive Repair or similar
- Attainment or progress towards membership of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors or IMI
- Proven ability in customer liaison and negotiation
- Experienced Motor vehicle construction and repair techniques covering bodywork, paint work, mechanical, electrical, and trim
- Expert in new and secondhand market vehicle values, environment and trends
- Understanding of Claim regulations, compliance and legislation beneficial
