Service needs will require movement of the Multi-Task Attendant between various departments and relief duties as directed.
- Respect patients/clients and their families showing dignity, courtesy and professionalism at all times.
- Carry out all duties in a prompt, efficient and professional manner.
- Base yourself at the designated location i.e. Neo-Natal Unit.
- Assisting healthcare staff in caring for patients.
- Attending to housekeeping, laundry, portering or general duties as assigned.
- Report all equipment faults in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintenance of sluice room in a hygienic condition.
- Removal and replacement of Sharps bins.
- Ensure that full uniform as provided by the hospital be clean and worn at all times while on duty.
- Ensure good personal hygiene is maintained at all times while on duty.
- To attend training as required. Maintain continuous personal development and participate in team based development, education, training and learning.
- Adhere to the scheduled shift times and breaks.
- Assist in the provision of a quality service and work in line with national and locally devised policies and regulations.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information made available to him / her during the course of his / her work.
- Maintain a strict code of personal and general hygiene in the work place as per work schedules and existing policies and procedures.
- When directed be responsible for the transportation of relevant medical charts and products etc throughout the hospital.
- Carry assigned bleep and be contactable at all times while on duty.
- Report any equipment faults to person in charge and ensure all equipment is stored safely.
- Carry out any other duties as required. Please note that the duties of this position may change over time.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out all activities required as directed by the midwife or nurse in charge as appropriate to the post.
- To ensure maintenance of good relationships, communication and team work with all disciplines.
- To be aware of the responsibility of all employees and maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- To be responsible for materials and equipment as directed by the sister in charge.
- To make Tea/Coffee & Toast when required.
- Keeping the Unit stores in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
- Ordering of various supplies from Stores Dept on instructions of CMM3 or CMM2 in charge, if required
- Maintaining satisfactory levels of supplies – sterile and non-sterile to Neo Natal Unit Stock Room and distribution of supplies as requested
- Maintain supply of laundry
- To delivery and collect specimen’s from the Laboratory as required including blood products, specimen jars etc
- Report any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of patient/ clients / residents, staff or visitors and take appropriate action.
- Report any accidents, near misses to the person in charge and ensure completion of incident / near miss forms.
- Not to undertake any duty related to patient for which he/she is not trained.
- Attend training courses as required e.g. CPR, Hygiene, HACCP, Fire Prevention etc.
- Participate in the development of a personal development plan in conjunction with his / her line manager.
- Cover annual leave
- Weekly cleaning of Dinamaps / Hemocue machine.
- To set up admission incubators, open table, CPAP, high flow after training, when required.
- Ensure trolleys are cleaned and stocked appropriately.
- Checking and cleaning fridges, bottle warmers, temperature checks and hemocue checks.
- Be vigilant at all times and report any issues to the appropriate person.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The Multi Task Attendant will:
- Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the smooth running of the Unit/Ward.
- Contribute to the maintenance of updating of patient documentation.
In carrying out these duties the employee must ensure that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act.
Staff must carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner in line with the National Maternity Hospital Policy as set out in the appropriate department’s safety statement.
