Job Description

Guttman Development Group (GDG). is currently looking to add an experienced Superintendent to the team in the Cincinnati-Dayton, OH region.

GDG is a multifamily developer, construction manager and general contractor that builds luxury apartments, townhomes and duplex homes. Based in Blue Ash, OH, GDG’s footprint has grown from Louisville, KY to Centerville, OH and continue to develop all points in between.

The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise and coordinate field operations, driving projects to successful completion through a safe work environment, quality construction, effective
LEAN planning & scheduling, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, and superior client service

What you will do:

  • Support client, designer, subcontractor & vendor relationships
  • Enforce OSHA-Safe Working Conditions
  • Understand drawings, specifications, and terms/conditions of owner contracts and subcontracts.
  • Deliver built-in quality using our three-phase quality control process.
  • Develop and maintain worksite logistics.
  • Drive project schedule including day to day supervision and coordination of construction activities.
  • Facilitate daily Site-Wide Huddles and Plan of the Day Meetings
  • Proactively monitor & control project costs
  • Leverage construction management and project management systems
  • Support the professional development and mentoring of Messer staff.
  • Support the interviewing and hiring process, as needed.

Daily Tasks

  • Maintain an updated set of drawings in the project office with all current bulletins.
  • Prepare a complete daily report each day using the Procore on-line software system.
  • Identify potential subcontractor change orders and immediately inform the project’s Project

Manager.

  • Schedule all jurisdictional inspections in a timely manner. Research the authority having jurisdiction to determine if there are limited time frames for inspections to be completed on site.
  • Set up all structural 3rd party inspections (i.e. concrete, compaction, grout, etc) well in advance of the tasks being completed.
  • Schedule dumpster pulls as necessary.
  • When a subcontractor initially arrives on site, access Procore to ensure all insurance and workman’s compensation requirements are in place.

Weekly Tasks

  • Prepare a 3-week schedule as described under the primary duty section and distribute to the

Project Manager.

  • Conduct a weekly safety and production meeting including all subcontractors and GDG employees currently on site. Use the toolbox talks provided in the safety section of Procore as

the basis. Make sure to document all who attend and place in a plastic envelope next to the door of the office or trailer.

  • Confirm all materials are available when needed for the project with the various subcontractors and suppliers. Obtain written documentation by email verification from the subcontractors that materials have been ordered and to confirm the expected delivery dates coincide with published schedule.
  • Attend the site manager’s conference call every other week to discuss on-going or future issues that affect all GDG sites.
  • Attend all client conference calls whether weekly or every other week.

What you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience operating as a commercial construction Superintendent (preferably in multifamily), or in a directly comparable role.
  • Advanced education, training, or certifications in construction management disciplines
  • Demonstrable excellence in leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary construction technologies and systems (ex.

BuildingConnected, Procore, Microsoft Project, etc.)

  • Proven experience utilizing contemporary construction process and project management systems
  • Proven experience maintaining compliance with construction safety policies and standards.
  • Experience with interviewing and hiring, managing direct reports and supporting the performance management process.

Abilities:

  • Possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities.
  • Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 25lbs., seeing and reading.
