Position: Music Generalist Teacher – Piano, Drums, Vocals, Guitar

Reports To: Site Supervisor

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Rate of Pay: $18.00-$26.00 /hour

Music Generalist Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

• Determining student goals and objectives, discussing lesson details with them before committing to a plan
• Structuring individual lessons based on client preferences and goals
• Teaching music theory, and helping students sharpen their sight-reading, memorizing, and improvising techniques
• Incorporating digital pianos and other technology into lessons
• Showing up on time for scheduled practice sessions, recitals, competitions, and other events
• Preparing students for recitals, concerts, and other events
• Motivating students, especially when they are struggling and progress is slow
• Providing constructive feedback and adjusting lessons as required
• Shares new insights and facilitates change
• Models adaptability and an awareness of the impact of change
• Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance
• Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well
• Uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology
• Develops plans and manages best practices through engagement of team
• Other duties as assigned

Piano Teacher Requirements / Skills / Qualifications

• Musical ability in one or more of the following: Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Drums, Ukulele.
• Strong musical ability, as well as proven music skills and knowledge
• Strong motivational skills
• Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses
• Previous experience as a music teacher would be advantageous
• Fluent sight-reading
• Patience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prolonged standing, sitting and walking
• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull large and heavy instruments or other related equipment with or without assistance
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
