Vela Games is Looking for a Talented Narrative Designer to help build our New Multiplayer Game.

At Vela we love games of every type, but we know that multiplayer, when done well, has a special ability to bring people together and empowers us to create unforgettable moments. It allows players to keep in touch with old friends regardless of distance, and to forge new friendships that will last lifetimes. Vela was created with these moments in mind, and our focus every day is thinking about how we can create impactful gaming experiences that inspire gamers around the world to play and win together.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the core foundation of Vela Games; someone who is passionate about being part of an early, tight-knit team laser-focused on creating a game from the ground up. They will have a passion for character-driven narratives, and understand how to maintain consistency in character and tone. This person loves experiencing stories as much as creating them, and always crafts stories with their audience in mind.

What You Will Do:

• Assist with worldbuilding for an original, fantasy/sci-fi IP
• Contribute to an ongoing story that evolves the world of the game
• Write dialog and bios for a dynamic team of hero characters
• Work collaboratively with an enthusiastic team of artists, designers, and engineers to bring the narrative to life in game
• Co-develop tools and processes for strong narrative development

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in game development, working with the narrative aspects of the game
• A talent for writing authentic and captivating character dialog
• Ability to engage a broad, global audience through your writing
• You have a passion for stories in all forms, but in games especially
• You are a collaborative team member who works across Vela to solve problems

Bonus Points:

• Experience writing efficient and impactful copy
• Knowledge of game design or level design principles
