Job description
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) are procedures to study the muscles and nerves of the body. It is most often used in the diagnosis of disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, cervical and lumbosacral radiculopathy, as well as muscle disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis. It is performed by both a technologist and a physician with specialized training.
The NCS Tech will float between the following locations:
- Grand Rapids East Beltline
- Holland
- Grand Haven
- Muskegon
- Electrode application and maintenance in adherence with accepted methods for routine NCS.
- Proper placement of stimulating electrode recording.
- Recognition of clinically significant events.
- Technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
- NCS waveform recognition and identification.
- Ability to perform critical thinking during NCS, actively synthesize real time data for optimal study results.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred
- Two years of relevant patient experience, preferably in Neurodiagnostics or related area preferred
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association, or ARC American Red Cross required within first 90 days
- CRT- Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) - American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM), or Registered Nerve Conduction Technologist (RNCT) - American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) required within first three years
