Role Title: VHI Screening Nurse - 12 month contract
Role Purpose
To carry out screening of corporate clients within their workplace across Ireland and within our Medical Screening Clinic in Mahon Point, Cork.
Support the Nurse Lead in the delivery of care to the highest clinical standard in the VHI Screening Service

Key Accountabilities
- Carry out health screenings of clients to the highest clinical standard within a corporate setting and within our Medical Screening Centre
- Support the Nurse Lead in ensuring standards are achieved and maintained.
- Provide leadership to agency nurses to ensure they are following policies and procedures.
- Participate in induction training and competency assessment for new nurses.
- Monitor and ensure that all required medical consumables and equipment are available, maintained and calibrated
- Manage clinical waste produced on site
- Provide clinical leadership to deal with patient complaints and incidents as they occur, investigate the causes and escalate as appropriate.
- Provide health promotion/education to clients as required
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives and take a proactive role in identifying and suggesting areas for improvement.
- Work as part of a team to ensure patients receive excellent clinical and customer-focused experience.
- Be flexible to work within other areas of VHI, including but not limited to Vhi Medical Screening / HealthCheck@home/Livewell Services in response to changing demands
- Quality documentation of records – using the relevant electronic systems
- Implement best practice infection control techniques and comply with standard operating procedures
- Nursing call backs to follow up with patients as required.
- Have the ability to work independently with minimal instruction when required
- Other duties as may be required.
- Full clean Driving license
- Flexibility to travel to corporate sites across Ireland
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional, courteous manner.
- Competent in computer skills.
- Must be an enthusiastic self-starter who demonstrates energy and drive
Qualifications
Experience of working in a Health Screening environment and/or experience of health promotion/Education is desirable but not essential
Minimum 3 to 5 years practical, post graduate, clinical nursing experience.

- SRN
- On the live Register of General Nurses (NMBI).
- Up-to-date INO membership including evidence of current Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
- Certificates of competence in;
- Infection Control and Hand Hygiene,
- CPR / AED / BLS,
- Manual and Patient Handling.
Experience of working in a Health Screening environment and/or experience of health promotion/Education is desirable but not essential
