As part of the Telecare family, La Casa Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) is a 190-bed program providing assistance to adults 18 and older.

Shifts Available:

Full Time; AM 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Monday - Friday

Minimum compensation: $20.64 Hourly

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Staff Coordinator / Department of Nursing Secretary / Supplies Coordinator provide direct support and maintains budget to the Nursing Department. Assists the Director of Nursing and the Assistant of Director of Nursing by performing the clerical tasks necessary to efficiently manage the nursing office. Coordinator is responsible for assuring that adequate supplies of work force and goods and services are available in order to provide the highest quality of care level to clients. Coordinates with the nursing department schedules for the nurses, mental health workers, and ward clerks. Supervises five (5) ward clerks. Ability to work independently and effective in a timely manner. Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from the Department of Justice and The Office of inspector General. A valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of secretarial experience in a health care setting is required. One (1) year in a supervisory capacity. An associate’s degree in a business or related specialty is preferred. A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalently is required. Necessary skills include typing of sixty - (60) words per minute, basic computer word processing experience on Microsoft Words, superior interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, a strong ability to be flexible in a work environment with a potential for many interruptions, and knowledge of budgetary processes. The ability to read, write, and speak English is crucial, as is the willingness to work with nursing staff, managers, and clients with serious mental illness.

  • Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and develops the staffing schedules for the nursing staff of 150+ employees.
  • Communicates directly with the D.O.N. in respect to staffing needs and challenges.
  • Coordinates staff replacement and maintains accurate time and attendance records.
  • Maintains central ordering, purchasing and budgetary recording.
  • Directly supervises the La Casa MHRC five-(5) unit clerks (includes: hires, evaluates schedules, assigns duty, and takes appropriate corrective action.)
  • Maintains and orders nursing supplies (includes: coordinates with the vendors, orders in-house medications, nursing supplies needed which includes some nursing forms)
  • Records, types, and distributes the nursing department minutes, memos and various monthly reports.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Manages all in-coming and out-going calls to or from the nursing office, including distributing or routing all messages and obtaining requested information.
  • Maintains logbooks in a current and up to date fashion (i.e., compiling statistics and information required for reports.)
  • Takes on additional assignments in a flexible, independent and willing manner.
  • Demonstrates respect for clients’ rights by maintaining strict confidentiality of client and staff information.
