Nature’s Flavors is looking for a Nutrition & Regulatory Associate to join our team and help ensure the accuracy and compliance of our products and labels. For over 40 years Newport Flavours and Nature’s Flavors has developed and produced custom natural & organic flavors, fragrances, and food & beverage products for both consumers and businesses. The Nutrition & Regulatory Associate will work closely with our QC/QA team and our Research & Development team. The ideal candidate for this role has experience in Food Industry Labeling and Regulatory Requirements. A Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Food Science. Some experience in Food Industry Labeling is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as nutrition consultant to the product development and R&D team. This includes identifying regulatory issues, providing recommendation, and implementing solutions for new product labels, product reformulations/revisions.
• Review and set nutrition targets for various brands and products.
• Provide insight and advice on ingredients that would contribute flavor and nutrition to various food and beverage products.
• Use nutrition and regulatory knowledge to establish Nutrition Fact Panels and support/verify nutrient content claims.
• Working cross functionally with operations, QC, and marketing team to review ingredient, nutrition labels and regulatory information for compliance with Federal labeling and policy regulations (FDA), other regulatory entities (Organic certifiers, Kosher, etc.)
• Submitting product labels to the FDA and other regulatory entities (Organic certifiers, Kosher, etc.) and maintaining approvals on files
• Reviewing artwork/packaging before finalizing to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance and to ensure the information is consistent with brand standards.
• Actively monitor and research up to date Food Law & Nutrition Labeling Regulations, trends and legal issues relevant to our industry, brands and projects.
• Working with QC/QA Department to identify and correct any issues related to allergen labeling.
• Create and update Specification Sheets for in-house products, as well as Product Specification sheets for customers.
• Keeps Suppliers Product specification sheets, Letter of Guarantees, and COAs on file for claim substantiation and records.
• Develop educational resources to support Customer Service and Marketing Team with responding to nutrition and science based questions, as well as consumer & customer concerns/complaints.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree: Food Science, Nutrition/Dietetics major preferred.
• Experience with all Federal and State food laws including FDA, USDA, CFIA, and FTC and with food regulation and labeling preferred.
• Multiple priority management abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competent in documentation and records management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
