Provides all clinical components of the WIC certification process and individual and group nutrition education according to WIC program standards. Provides other WIC nutrition services as assigned.
Provides WIC certifications including health history, anthropometrics, immunization screening, hemoglobin, evaluation of risk status, nutrition and health counseling, prescription of WIC food package, documentation, and high-risk referrals. Provides Level I and Level II counseling and support. Maintains CLC certification.
Develops, conducts, and evaluates group nutrition education for WIC participants.
Provides and documents individual nutrition follow-up for low-risk referrals.
Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary WIC team in clinic/class scheduling, caseload monitoring, and outreach. Works with other program staff and disciplines to enhance integration and quality of service.
Monitors WIC contract and special formulas.
Assists with the maintenance and upkeep of nutrition education material and resources.
Provides breastfeeding promotion and support activities, issues and monitors breastfeeding supplies.
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in home economics, home economics education, human ecology, family and child development, dietetics, or foods and nutrition or institutional management.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, or other nutrition degree; or a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer science and one (1) year of related nutrition experience.

DHEC employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency. This involves being subject to duty and or call on a 24-hour basis.
You must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable transportation.
This position may require working early (before 8:30 am), evening (after 5:00 pm) and/or Saturday's.
Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time, if required.
