Spectrum Eye Physicians is one of the largest ophthalmology/optometry practices in the Bay Area with 7 locations in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties. Spectrum is a family-oriented practice with roots in the Bay Area since the 1960s. We’re currently seeking a full-time optometrist for our Watsonville and Hollister offices. Both locations include a full optical dispensary and two experienced opticians.

Working closely with our MD’s, the ideal candidate will be personable, energetic, and able to build trust and rapport with our large patient base. The essential responsibilities of the optometrist position include:

• Independent patient examinations within the scope of licensure.
• Timely interpretation of diagnostic tests ordered with appropriate notification.
• Co-management of the medical/surgical patient according to state law and the by-laws of the practice.
• Emergency patient examinations.
• Provides contact lens examinations and fittings.
• Provides guidelines regarding contact lens instruction (for insertion and removal) to be performed by appointed clinical staff.
• Documents all patient encounters in the electronic medical record with appropriate co-signature in accordance with state law when necessary.
• Bills for services provided in accordance with state law.
• Informs patients of optical benefits, makes product suggestions and guides patients to optical.

Ability to speak exam related Spanish preferred.
