Job Description:
The Oregon Department of Corrections has an Office Specialist 2 at the Oregon Department of Corrections Headquarters in Salem, OR. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and could be used to fill future vacancies.
This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
What does this job do?
As the Office Specialist (OS) for the Central Trust section, you will be providing clerical and administrative services that support the operation of Central Trust which acts as the “bank” for adults in custody (AIC) funds. You will be responsible for providing customer service to staff, AICs, and the public. You will be responsible for distributing the mail, preparing the outgoing mail auditing deposits and auditing warrants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate's degree; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate AND one year of general clerical experience.

This position is located inside an open office setting with ambient light, common office commotion including talking, phones ringing, etc.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) computer and fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
