Job description

This is responsible secretarial and office support work of moderate difficulty requiring the skilled handling of a multi-line telephone system, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and the proficient operation of a computer and various software, database, and internet applications. Work includes the preparation of business correspondence and reports; and/or other assigned office maintenance of moderately complex fiscal, operating, personnel, payroll, and records; the scheduling and coordination of events and meetings and the maintenance of administrative files. Professional and efficient reception and disposition of office calls, internal and external customers, and incoming mail; and must exercise professional discretion and tact when handling sensitive or confidential information or records. Due to the facilities serviced by an employee in this position, a selected candidate does need to meet the State of Florida good moral character and Level II background screening standards (Florida State Statutes 435.01-435.06) to be eligible.


Salary: $16.73 - $25.02 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Have considerable progressive clerical and typing experience.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Be able to efficiently and effectively respond to multiple administrative, telephone, and reception demands.
  • Be skilled in the operation of a computer and computer software programs including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) as well as other types of automated office equipment in a modern office environment.
  • Have considerable knowledge of business English including correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Are able to maintain a professional demeanor appropriate for a high-profile public office.
  • Are able to maintain moderately complex office files, prepare routine letters, make mathematical calculation with speed and accuracy, and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Have knowledge of computer programs such as Oracle E-Business Suite and Kronos timekeeper software.
