The Kaseya OPS team maintains and supports the day-to-day operations of the VSA product hosted on Kaseya's globally distributed cloud infrastructure and ensures Kaseya has secure, reliable and performant systems. We are also responsible for all systems and processes that support the software development life cycle. The team consists of Engineers who span three different areas of responsibility and 3 different time zones – GMT, PST and MST (Moscow Std Time). Responsibilities include Operations (OPS), Database Operations and Development Operations (DevOps).
The Operations Engineer candidate would have exposure to all parts of the team but would focus mainly on database support and administration in the GMT time zone. You would work closely with a team of Senior DBA's and Database Engineers based out of Dundalk and Minsk, Belarus. Because of this, this role would suit someone who has an interest in database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server and preferably has some knowledge and use of it. Possible career paths for experience in Microsoft SQL Server include SQL Server Software Development, SQL Server Database Administrator, Database Engineer and more Senior roles such as Database or Infrastructure Architect.
Learning opportunities and responsibilities would include:
- 5th Level Support for SaaS and Hosted on Premise VSA's
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to our primary product, VSA, which may include servers, operating system and databases.
- Get training and certification on our VSA product – Kaseya Certified Administrator
- VSA Database Support
- Debugging production and development database issues
- SQL Server Database Administration and Maintenance
- Ensure SQL Server Configuration is set as per best practice – conduct analysis of the servers to determine patterns of usage, performance baselines and make recommendations.
- Performance Tuning
- SQL Server Profiler
- Database indexes and statistics
- Review of APM tools proactively and as required
- Review VSA code to ensure it is optimal (Slow running queries, wait times, queries with high I/O etc.
- SQL Server Development – the candidate would be exposed to and work with SQL Server code. How we implement fixes from detection all the way through to releasing the fix in a software patch to the customer
- Governance & Standards – the candidate will be exposed to creating standards and maintaining documentation for the OPS team
- Incident Management
- Liaise with the necessary teams to bring an incident to a timely resolution
- Communicate with relevant parties regarding incident updates
- Participate actively in incidents
- Change Management
- Raising JIRA's and CAB tickets for server and database changes
