The Operations Duty Manager will work to ensure that all areas of people management, financial, food & beverage operations, visitor experience and client activities are met as per company requirements for Beyond the Trees Avondale. Including the 270 seat Seed Café, Cleaning Team, Facilities Team, Tour Guides & Reception Team to include Retail Sales ensuring excellent service delivery, ongoing innovation and meeting both company and client financial targets while ensuring client and visitor satisfaction ratings. All aspects of this diverse and complex site will be in the daily responsibilities of the Operations Duty Manager answering directly to the Site General Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Beyond the Trees Avondale is a state-of-the-art new visitor destination located in Avondale Forest Park, Co. Wicklow, which is a strategic partnership between Coillte, Fáilte Ireland & EAK Ireland. Opened in June 2022 this is one of the most exciting new visitor attractions to open in Ireland in the last year with significant visitor numbers and a high profile within the tourism industry. Avondale was once home of Charles Stewart Parnell and is considered the birthplace of Irish forestry. On site there is a new build visitor centre with café and gift shop along with a 1.3km Tree Top Walk & Tower providing 360-degree views of the forest, the Avonmore River & the Wicklow Mountains. In Avondale House a newly launched guided tour brings the Parnell family story back to life along with the story of Champion of Trees Samuel Hayes and Ireland’s First Forestry School. An annual event programme will animate the overall destination.

**This is a permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday through Sunday Availability Required.**

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the whole site to a high standard, in line with client contract & General Manager direction.
  • Maintain appropriate financial information systems as required by Aramark Ireland.
  • Ensure that the correct daily cash procedures are followed including Petty Cash, lodgements, Safe Checks, etc are followed as laid down by Aramark.
  • Ensure the visitor experience is at a world class level across the whole site & all service & financial KPI’s are met.
  • Support the inhouse team in both Front of House & Back of House to ensure world class service is achieved.
  • Work with the General Manager & all other department heads to promote an inclusive and friendly workplace.
  • Provide regular reports to the General Manager in regard to budgeted KPI’s, Team Training & Development, Customer Satisfaction.
  • Adherence of all company procedures across Beyond The Trees Avondale as outlined by Internal Audit team, HR team, OpX guidelines, Business Conduct Policy etc
  • Ensure training for responsible service of alcohol is maintained and that all relevant requirements are fulfilled in relation to licensing laws.
  • Direct responsibility for full quality and safety compliance, including ensuring adherence to the Food Hygiene and EH&S legislation at Beyond The Trees Avondale.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all department heads as well as key stakeholders in the Avondale business (Coillte, Failte Ireland, EAK Ireland, tourism sector and community partners).
  • Monitor and evaluate the Facilities & Cleaning Team on performance and productivity, communicating weekly the facilities needs of the business.
  • Primarily responsible for total site operating standards and quality and overall operational excellence at Beyond The Trees Avondale.
  • Maintain regular presence and visibility in all areas of the site owning the environment and attitude of the Avondale team.
  • Identify opportunities throughout the site and investigate potential growth targets with General Manager
  • Support the General Manager in appraisals/CMP so that they are carried out for all staff on an annual basis.
  • Recruitment, Training and Development of all Staff in support of Departmental Heads on site.
  • Awareness of and adaptable to the Seasonal realities of the business.
  • Other duties as required by Management.
