Food for Families is one of Park View Community Mission’s six programs. Its primary goal is providing food in a dignified grocery shopping experience for food-insecure families. This position works as a part of Park View’s staff to further our mission statement to offer help, healing, and hope to our neighbors. The Operations Manager will primarily be responsible for maintaining an organized, clean, and safe food pantry, and managing volunteers in the FFF pantry. This position will have an office in FFF at 2420 Memorial Ave. This position reports directly to the Food for Families Director.

Ability to:

• Lift Up to 50 lbs. at one time
• Exhibit training or agree to be trained to utilize manual and electric pallet stackers within the first month of employment
• Show certification or agreement to become certified as a forklift operator within three months of employment
• Drive Park View vans and box truck, which is contingent upon a good driving record
• Exhibit strategic planning and problem-solving skills in order to utilize warehouse and pantry floor space efficiently
• Utilize Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Office
• Interact with diverse groups of people and age ranges
• Communicate and articulate program processes and procedures to volunteers, community, college and university leaders as needed or requested

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the maintenance of food pantry inventory by placing orders and communicating with the food bank and other local partners in the allocation of donated and purchased food and other needed items. Use Agency Express to order food and Meal Connect to log the partner pick-ups assigned by the Food Bank.
• Ensure proper and safe use of mechanical equipment is executed
• Complete daily tasks in the warehouse (preparing, cleaning, moving, organizing)
• Implement food pantry policies and procedures as enforced by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
• Keep up with any trainings needed as offered by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
• Supervise volunteers, work study students, and interns during the sorting of the partner pick-ups, food bank deliveries, food distribution prep, and food distributions.
• Organize volunteers into desired and appropriate volunteer positions or opportunities
• Coordinate gatherings as necessary with volunteers and volunteer leaders to give updates/announcements and gather feedback
• Maintain statistical data on the Park View Stat Master and related worksheets - which may include:
• Amounts of food and hygiene donated - from partner pickups, food bank, individuals, and groups
• Number of families served during our food distributions and total of emergency bags given out
• Total number of volunteer and student service hours
• General office duties and team responsibilities include: answering phones, greeting and directing visitors, preparing reports, and attending weekly staff meetings.

Job Requirements:

• Technical or Associates degree preferred
• 2-5 years work experience in a related field (grocery/retail) preferred
• Valid Driver’s License
• This is a full time position requiring 35-40 hours/week, and Saturday availability

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
