Overnight Stocker/Receiver
Salary & Benefits: $15/hr to start, $1.00/hr premium for overnight shifts, 20% store discount, accrued Paid Time Off, eligible for company benefits after 90 days
Hours: Full-time, (12am-8am) Sun.-Mon., Mon.-Tues., Tues.-Wed., (1am-9am) Thurs.-Fri.
Summary: The Overnight Stocker/Receiver will receive, stock, and promote products in an efficient and focused manner and provide excellent customer service by answering questions about products and helping customers to get what they need. Produce Stocker/Receivers report directly to the Grocery Managers and receive direction from Shift Leads and Overnight Lead as well.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Receive large deliveries according to established practices and expectations
- Maintain clean, attractive, well-stocked and rotated displays throughout the department
- Provide prompt and courteous assistance to shoppers- provide accurate information about the co-op and our products, assisting customers with shopping needs, etc.
- Work within a team of other grocery staff (supporting each other around covering shifts, taking breaks and rotating responsibilities)
- Attend department and all staff meetings
- Work with manager, buyers, and lead receiver to learn and uphold receiving and handling practices and procedures
- Maintain rotation and proper stocking techniques
- Remove outdated or damaged products from the retail floor
- Uphold security procedures throughout shift to ensure the safety of the premises
- Act in compliance with store policies both staff wide and department specific
- Keep up to date on email and other communications
- Learn roles and responsibilities of Lead Receiver’s position in order to provide coverage if necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key Skills and Abilities
- Professional experience in a grocery retail
- Familiarity with natural foods, sustainable distribution practices, and relevant terms and classifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to give clear instructions
- Customer service oriented, prior experience with customer assistance and communication
- Knowledge of agriculture, growing methods (organic, IPM, etc), local foods and suppliers
- Experience working in a cooperative environment preferred!
Physical Requirements
- Climbing stairs & ladders, bending, sitting, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing
- Ability to lift 60 lb. routinely
- Ability to wear a mask for extended periods of time
- Fine motor and gross motor coordination needed to safely operate a pallet jack, freight lift, u-boats, various stock carts, hand trucks and sharp tools
- Ability to wear a mask for extended periods of time
