Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provides non-emergency medical transportation and Advanced and/or Basic Life Support as well as ambulance services to the employees of Indiana Harbor.
- Manages and/or treats work-related illnesses and injuries, with emphasis on early recognition and intervention.
- Provides follow-up care and monitors workers as they return to work.
- Perform fitness to work evaluations according to protocol, breath alcohol measurements, and collection of urine and hair specimens for drug testing.
- Performs other duties as assigned to maintain department functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Paramedic Program
- Certified by the State of Indiana as a Paramedic
- Minimum of three years of supervised experience as a Paramedic or equivalent education and expereince
- Methodist Hospital {Northwest Indiana} approval to function as a Paramedic in accordance with their Advanced Life Support protocols, consistent with the Medical Department ALS agreement with them
- Ability to perform duties following standing orders
- Current ACLS certification and able to be certified as a Breath Alcohol Technician, and correctly perform urine and hair test collections.
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Be able to successfully pass all pre-employment testing requirements
- Be able to perform essential job duties, successfully pass a drug screen, background check, and a physical exam prior to starting employment
