Essential Functions
This position in Parking and Transit Services is a public-facing contact for customer service and is the first point of contact for many visitors, event guests, and visiting dignitaries from both the internal university system and the external community coming to campus needing parking for events and activities.
This position is responsible for controlling access to restricted lots by primarily operating the booth at the entrance of parking lot E, including using computer equipment, databases, software, mechanical gate controls, communication equipment and informational signage; greeting visitors with parking reservations to campus, allowing access to restricted parking when appropriate, and directing visitors to alternative parking locations when they do not have a reservation or parking lot volume forces overflow; collaborating with CEC and other departments and communicating with Parking and Transit Manager to determine potential overflow situations and actions; and, opening up lot space for bonus day parking for faculty, staff, and students by analyzing daily lot reservations, determining lot availability and status, and updating signage.
This position assists visitors by providing general information regarding parking for events and activities on campus; by having a familiar knowledge of campus including building locations, parking options, and parking rules and regulations; by communicating changes and resolving discrepancies as needed; by monitoring lot volume and determining overflow need and activation; and by collaborating with the Field Supervisor, Parking and Transit Manager, and other university departments to provide consistent, professional, and efficient parking service.
This position must function in a hospitable and patient manner; listen attentively to visitor questions and concerns; communicate information clearly; resolve difficult situations independently, with empathy and good judgement; and arrive for shifts in a punctual and reliable manner.
Skills necessary to perform this job include, literacy, computer experience, customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, and conflict resolution skills.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 2PM - 7PM (25 hours/week)

Additional Duties
Restricted Lot Access Control: Operate parking booth equipment, including computer equipment, databases, software, mechanical gate controls, communication equipment, and informational signage. Greet guests and visitors, providing relevant information regarding parking rules and regulations, campus geography, and event locations. Interdepartmental communication as needed to assist guests and visitors and provide best information available. Directing guests and visitors to alternative parking in overflow situations, providing temporary permits via kiosk codes as needed. Work with Parking and Transit Manager to determine overflow solutions and to maximize lot availability.
Additional Duties: Operate Parking Services vehicle as needed. Assist management on additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Required Education: High School Education or equivalent.
Required Experience: One (1) year of experience in customer service, databases, computer programs, and devices.
Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license.
