Job Title: Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Laborer

Classification: Seasonal

$13.00 - $15.00 per hour DOE

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Parks and Maintenance Manager, the Community Park District Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible general indoor and outdoor summer custodial and maintenance work including cleaning, trash removal, program set-up, litter pick-up, mowing, and painting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years or older, team-oriented, flexible, have excellent communication skills.

CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required (Park District provides training). Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

SUPERVISOR

This position reports to the Parks and Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Weed flowerbeds and grounds.

· Hardscape and landscape duties.

· Operate tractor, utility truck, hand tools, power tools, and lawn mowers.

· Perform minor building and equipment repairs.

· Collect garbage and pick-up litter in parks.

· Set up and tear down for programming.

· Communicate effectively

· Work closely with staff.

· Promote a quality loss control/safety program for the Park District.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND PROTECTIVE GEAR/CLOTHING
Must be able to: frequently move about the facility on uneven ground; occasionally move items such as construction materials, cleaning products, etc. up to 50 lbs. for up to 25 yards and over 50 lbs. with assistance, and position one's self to perform maintenance and repairs, work on ladders and elevated surfaces, move on uneven ground, and grasp tools with repetitive use of hands/fingers/arms with good eye/hand coordination. May be exposed to all outdoor weather conditions. Appropriate/approved clothing and steel tool boots are required for this position.

HOURS
Seasonal Ground Maintenance positions are part-time seasonal working up to 40 hours per week from April – August or September. Hours are Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Experience:

• Landscape maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
