Job description
Wilbarger General Hospital, Vernon, TX has an opening for a Seasonal Patient Access Representative.
Job Summary: Responsible for admitting and discharging patients in the Registration area, and admission to the floor. Processing documents for insurance coverage and for patient transfers. Performs cost estimate to determine patient's financial responsibility. Reception duties to include multi-line telephone calls. Assists with preauthorization of insurance, appeals, admission process and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the PFS Director.
Job Qualifications:
A. Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Basic understanding of medicine and disease processes as well as WGH functions. Effective oral and written communication skills including close interaction with physicians and other facilities. Basic computer, data collection, and information evaluation skills. Must be able to multitask effectively.
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: BLS required. CPI required.
D. Prior work experience: At least one year in business office environment with knowledge of medical terminology prefered.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, twisting and reaching.
